CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase in Carroll County.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday, Dec. 1, a deputy tried to stop a car on Airport Road because of several violations. The driver then sped away, turning onto Coon Ridge Road, and then onto Goodspur Road, where the driver tried to hide the car behind a home.

When the deputy found the car, it was empty. The deputy later found the man — 43-year-old Scott Antwain Brown of Hillsville — outside a home and taken into custody. Brown told the deputy he was wanted out of Grayson County on probation violations.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brown went before a magistrate and was served on four probation violations, failing to register as a violent sex offender, eluding, and driving suspended.

Brown is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.
