Gun ban for public buildings, certain events goes into effect in Blacksburg

New River Valley News

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Starting Monday, people will no longer be able to carry guns in any town facilities or at public events that require a permit in Blacksburg.

This gun ban — which goes into effect on Monday, March 1 — is because of a new ordinance that was approved by Blacksburg Town Council members in January.

Last July, state lawmakers passed a bill allowing localities to pass these types of ordinances.
