UPDATE 4/12 AT 3:22 P.M. (WFXR) — School officials with Virginia Tech say the gas leak reported on the Virginia Tech Research campus on April 12th was identified and fixed.
Around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, the school was notified of a gas leak at the Advanced Propulsion and Power Laboratory. As a precaution, staff and students evacuated the building while police and firefighters assessed the issue. Virginia Tech Associate Vice President for University Relations Mark Owczarski, says emergency responders quickly identified the leak and repaired it.
Owczarski says there is no longer a threat to the community.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — There was a gas leak reported on the Virginia Tech Research campus on Wednesday, April 12th.
Details are limited at this time, but what has been reported is that the gas leak occurred at the Advanced Propulsion and Power Laboratory in the 1600 block of Innovation Drive. As a precaution, staff in the nearby buildings evacuated, and the main entrance was blocked while police and firefighters assessed the leak.
The road has since been reopened and workers have been let back into the building. However, classes for students were canceled for the remainder of the day.
