GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — Crews from Galax and Grayson County responded to an afternoon crash and found two injured motorists, including one who was trapped in a vehicle.

According to the Galax Fire Department’s Facebook post from Thursday, June 10, crews were dispatched at approximately 3:52 p.m. for a crash at the intersection of Grayson Parkway and Delhart Road.

When units arrived at the scene, they found a two vehicle crash with one occupant in serious condition who needed to be removed from a vehicle.

The department says the rescue crew dropped a line, pulled both the cutters and spreaders, and completed a side removal within eight minutes of arriving.

The critical patient was then transported by the Baywood Search and Rescue Squad to Twin County Regional Healthcare (TCRH).

Meanwhile, Galax-Grayson EMS took care of the mildly-injured patient from the other vehicle.

Fire officials say say members of Virginia State Police, the Galax Police Department, and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene, with all units clearing the scene in about 30 minutes.
