GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — As health officials report a rise in rabies cases around Carroll County, Grayson County, and Galax, a local animal shelter is encouraging community members to protect their furry friends by bringing them to a low-cost vaccination clinic on Saturday.
According to the Galax Carroll Grayson Animal Shelter, for $25 — cash only — your pet can receive both the rabies and distemper vaccine. However, in order to obtain a three-year vaccination, you need to present a current rabies certificate, not tags.
Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required for this event, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Galax Carroll Grayson Animal Shelter at 200 Fair Street in Galax.
Organizers say they will provide free pet food and supplies for participants while supplies last.
