GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — The Galax Carroll Grayson Animal Shelter is asking for the community’s help identifying a person who could be facing charges after several puppies were abandoned outside the shelter without food or water Tuesday morning.

According to the shelter, the puppies were left outside the facility — in the rain — around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Officials say they pulled security footage showing a person and a vehicle, which are pictured below:

If you recognize the person photographed above, you are asked to call the shelter at 276-236-8501.

The shelter says charges are pending for five counts of animal abandonment and five counts of failure to care for a companion animal.

If you need to surrender an animal in Galax, Carroll County, or Grayson County, you are urged to do so during the shelter’s business hours, which are 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Officials say they will post information about the puppies’ adoption availability in the near future.
