HILLSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Late Friday night, fire crews with the Galax Fire Department — along with other crews from Carroll County — worked together to put out a fire at Carroll County High School.

According to the Galax Fire Department, units from Galax, Hillsville, Laurel Fork, and Carroll County Fire and Rescue responded to the school around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 for a call regarding smoke from the concession stand area.

Crews with the Hillsville Fire Department pushed through the smoke to find the fire in a different part of the building to extinguish it.

Additional crews from Galax and Laurel Fork searched for fire extension in other parts of the building.

Within an hour, crews cleared the scene after removing the rest of the smoke.

Deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office are working to determine the fire’s cause.
