MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After Dr. Mark Miear was dismissed as Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent, the school board released a statement addressing the public comments made by Dr. Miear.

In an ongoing dispute, the Montgomery County Public School released a statement on Tuesday night stating school officials believe several of Dr. Miear’s claims about his firing are “inaccurate or misleading.” School officials claim he took $55,000 in overpayment for salary and benefits that he was not entitled to.

In response to the Montgomery County School Board release, Dr. Miear told WFXR News the following:

A continuing back and forth over these issues is not productive. My focus is on ways to improve the educational opportunities offered by Montgomery County Public Schools as a candidate for school board. I look forward to presenting my ideas to voters during my upcoming campaign in District B. I’m very excited about the possibility of serving the children of the county in a different capacity,

– said Dr. Miear.
