UPDATE 7:04 a.m. (WFXR) — The Pearisburg Police Department has shared more updates on the details of the Friends and Family Restaurant fire, as crews work to clear the flare-ups after the fire reignited around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 21.
Police told WFXR that the original fire started around midnight on the right side of the restaurant, which was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Multiple fire departments assisted in handling the fire and left around 5 a.m.
The Pearisburg Police Department says it is common for crews to have to come back out to clear flare-ups from a fire that size.

GILES COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Firefighters in Giles County spent most of the morning battling a fire at a restaurant in Pearisburg on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
The details are limited at this time, however, what is known is that crews with the Pearisburg Fire Department, as well as the Pearisburg Sheriff’s office, have responded to a fire at the Friends and Family Restaurant, which started in the early hours of the morning.
The restaurant has been completely destroyed, however, the Friends and Family Restaurant posted on its Facebook that the fire started after hours and all employees are safe.
Once the initial fire was put out, the building did catch fire again. Crews were able to put the fire out and are working on the scene to make sure the building is under control.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
