Fatigue possibly to blame in fatal crash Friday night in Giles County

GILES COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are investigating single-vehicle crash in Giles County that led to a Virginia man’s death Friday night.

Troopers say the crash took place on Route 460 at the intersection with Route 774 just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.

According to police, a 2019 Nissan Versa was traveling west on Route 460 when it ran off the left side of the road, struck a culvert, overturned several times, and came to rest on its roof.

Authorities say 61-year-old Jeffery A. Gibson of Front Royal, was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was taken to LewisGale Medical Center in Blacksburg, where he died from his injuries later that night.

Troopers say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

According to Virginia State Police, fatigue is being investigated as a possible factor in the fatal crash.
