FLOYD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A Floyd man is dead after he was ejected from his vehicle during a crash in Floyd County early Friday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, a 1997 Dodge Ram was traveling south on Route 221 — less than a mile south of Route 721 — around 3:45 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road.

Police say the vehicle then overcorrected, crossed the road, struck an embankment, overturned, and ejected the driver.

The driver of the Dodge — identified by officials as 62-year-old Mark Andrew Proctor of Floyd — was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The investigation into this crash is reportedly ongoing.
