GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — Crews in Galax responded to a late night house fire over the weekend after smoke was reportedly visible from the Fiddlers Convention downtown.

According to a Facebook post from the Galax Fire Department shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, crews were dispatched to a structure fire in the 100 block of Lawrence Street at approximately 12:06 a.m. Initial reports indicated that two people were trapped inside.

Units searched the home — including the bedrooms, which the department described as “survivable space” — but did not find any victims.
