Claytor Lake Reservoir to be reduced ahead of heavy rain from remnants of Fred

DUBLIN, Va. (WFXR) – The Claytor Lake Reservoir is being lowered due to anticipated heavy rain coming in from the remnants of Tropical Depression Fred.

The Claytor Lake Hydroelectric Project announced online that Appalachian Power will be lowering the reservoir to approximately 1,841 feet by early Wednesday morning.

Normally, the reservoir’s elevation is between 1,845 and 1,846 feet.

Residents and recreational users should remove or secure items within the Claytor Project boundary and be aware of debris coming into the lake.
