CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Tuesday morning, Carroll County officials that an open air burn ban will be in effect for the next month because of weather-related concerns.

According to the Carroll County government Facebook page, the Board of Supervisors decided to implement the burn ban due to the dry conditions and lack of rainfall.

This burn ban is set to remain in effect from Tuesday, Dec. 14 until Jan. 14, 2022.

Six other southwest Virginia localities — including DanvillePittsylvania CountyHalifax CountyCharlotte County, Henry County, and Amherst County — have implemented similar burn bans over the last two weeks amid concerns about the wildfire risk from dry weather conditions.
