CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — One person was airlifted to the hospital and another person was charged after Carroll County authorities responded to a report of an assault involving a knife on Thursday.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the assault at a location along Indian Valley Road on Thursday, Dec. 23.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they detained the suspect and secured a number of items as evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies say the victim was later flown to a hospital to receive emergency surgery. However, there is no word on the nature of the victim’s injuries or current condition.
Meanwhile, officials say the suspect was transported to the sheriff’s office and interviewed, which led to charges being obtained against the individual.
According to authorities, 42-year-old Jason Wayne Keyes of Dugspur, was charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding, transported to the New River Valley Regional Jail, and received a $7,000 secured bond.
