CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — First responders from multiple New River Valley fire departments worked together to extinguish a house fire in Dugspur on Monday, but in the end, the home was still deemed a total loss.
The Galax Fire Department says crews were dispatched to assist the Hillsville Fire Department and the Laurel Fork Volunteer Fire Department with a structure fire at 2303 Pilgrims Trail shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22.
When Galax units arrived at the Dugspur home, the department says Hillsville and Laurel Fork firefighters were already “making an outstanding push on the wind driven fire,” but Galax first responders reportedly helped with the extensive overhaul efforts.
Fire officials say all of the occupants escaped the fire without any injuries, but the home was ruled a total loss.
However, all crews put in the extra work to salvage some sentimental items for the family, according to the department.
“Could not be more proud!! Prayers for the family please,” the Galax Fire Department posted on Facebook on Monday. “…Outstanding working with all our mutual aid partners to keep our crews safe!!!”
