Blacksburg Transit cancels service Thursday, Valley Metro to operate on Snow Routes, suspends Smart Way Services due to weather concerns

(WFXR) — As a significant winter storm approaches, Blacksburg Transit has announced it has canceled service to both Blacksburg and Christiansburg on Thursday. In Roanoke, Valley Metro has announced it will operate on snow routes on Thursday. It has also suspended Smart Way Services due to the winter storm.

Blacksburg Transit will provide an update on whether or not they will operate on Friday, Feb. 19 after 5:30 a.m. that day. To see that update, when it is announced, click here.

Also, ahead of more winter weather, Valley Metro has announced the Smart Way Commuter and Smart Way Express services will be suspended on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Amtrak connections via the Smart Way Commuter are also suspended for Thursday.

Valley Metro local fixed-route buses will operate on snow routes on Thursday. Delays should be expected through the service day, so riders should plan ahead.

All COVID-19 related mandates will still be enforced on all Valley Metro Services.

Valley Metro’s administrative offices will open at 10 a.m. Valley Metro services may be adjusted based on road conditions throughout the service day on Thursday.
