BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating a string of burglaries that have been occurring in the Town of Blacksburg recently.
This past weekend, WFXR News reported that two burglaries occurred, one on Friday, Jan. 22 in the 400 block of East Roanoke Street and a second on Saturday, Jan. 23 in the 500 block of Sunridge Drive.
Several items were taken from each location.
The Blacksburg Police Department says the individual was described as a college-aged white man who was wearing dark-colored clothing and a face covering.
As investigators were working leads surrounding those cases, they announced on Monday, Jan. 25, that they determined two additional burglaries have occurred. Police are working to see if these incidents are connected.
The department says it has added additional uniformed patrols to the apartment complexes and neighborhoods in town.
Officials are cautioning residents not to jump to conclusions on any crime based on unofficial sources and information, including social media.
In addition, police are reminding everyone to be sure doors and windows are locked in their homes and not be sure vehicles are void of valuables that are in sight.
