WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Deputies with the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office spent Tuesday morning investigating a reported bomb threat at the county’s courthouse.

Wythe County Sheriff Charles Foster tells WFXR News that an unidentified caller phoned into the courthouse at 9:54 a.m. Tuesday and told one of the clerks at the Wythe County Circuit Court that there was a bomb in the building.

Foster said members of the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office evacuated all three complexes of the courthouse which included the circuit court, district court and juvenile and domestic court.

Virginia State Police (VSP) along with K9s thoroughly searched the building for any signs of a bomb but did not find anything.

Foster tells WFXR News that his investigators are working to follow leads and develop any potential persons of interest as part of the ongoing investigation.
