CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Two people are facing charges in connection with a Wednesday night shooting in Carroll County that sent another person to the hospital.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call about a person who had been shot on Redd Woods Drive in Hillsville shortly before 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15. A deputy arrived at the scene and found the victim, who appeared to have been shot in the head.
Authorities say they quickly secured the area and detained a suspect at the scene.
According to officials, the victim was flown to a hospital in a helicopter to receive immediate treatment. There is no word on the shooting victim’s current condition at this time.
After executing search warrants on the suspect’s home and two separate vehicles involved in the incident, the sheriff’s office says authorities discovered numerous firearms, ammunition, and suspected narcotics.
“Law enforcement later confirmed that both the suspect and his fiancé are convicted felons,” the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook on Friday, Dec. 17. “All evidence was seized and both subjects were placed under arrest. “
According to authorities, 32-year-old Edward Dale Woods of Hillsville, was taken before a magistrate and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Woods was held without bail before being brought to the New River Valley Regional Jail.
Meanwhile, 30-year-old Jesse Renne Iroler of Hillsville, was brought to a magistrate and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, officials say. However, she was later released after receiving a $1,000 secured bond.
