CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Get ready to honk horns and blare sirens because the seventh annual Touch-A-Truck NRV event is returning to Christiansburg next Saturday!

The New River Valley Home Builders Association (NRVHBA) is presenting the event on Saturday, Aug. 13 in the back parking lot of Uptown Christiansburg at 782 New River Road.

Builders association officials say the event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the first two hours being siren and horn-free for those with sensitive ears.

According to the NRVHBA, children will be able to explore construction vehicles, squad cars, dump trucks, and more with a hands-on personal experience. The event will also have activities from local businesses and non-profit organizations, food trucks, and opportunities for kids to build their own bird houses.

There will also be a raffle at the event for a backyard swing set, organizers say.

Tickets for the event are $2 per person or $5 for a family of four, but children ages two and under are free.

Organizers tell WFXR News that proceeds from the event will go toward the NRVHBA and its Builders Care Fund, which helps fund scholarships for future construction and trade students, charitable contributions, and future workforce development initiatives.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on the Touch-A-Truck website.
