UPDATE 4:45 P.M. BLAND COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Transportation says the Big Walker Mountain Tunnel northbound lanes are now open.

BLAND COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Transportation says drivers can expect delays on Interstate 77 North at Big Walker Mountain Tunnel on May 26th.
The department says all northbound lanes are closed at this time and traffic has been stopped. According to the Bland County Sheriff’s Office traffic is backed up for approximately 10 miles.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes of travel.
