UPDATE: Alleged Giles County shooter in custody

UDPATE 6:35 p.m.: The Giles County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Brandon Cody Boggs has been taken into custody.

They say an update is forthcoming.

UPDATE 6:05 p.m.: The Giles County Sheriff’s Office has released additional information on the “active situation.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a shooting took place late in the morning on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the 2100 block of Guinea Mountain Road in Pearisburg.

One victim has been taken to a local hospital.

According to deputies, they have identified the suspect in this shooting as Brandon Cody Boggs of Pearisburg who is not in custody.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office says there are outstanding warrants on Boggs for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Boggs is said to be approximately 5’5″ tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Boggs should be considered armed and dangerous and is thought to have left the scene on-foot.

If you have information the incident or if you see Boggs, you should contact 911.

Virginia State Police has joined the investigation and the search for Boggs.


GILES COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of an active situation in the Guinea Mountain Road area.

Deputies are advising residents in that area to use caution.

No other information has been confirmed at this time.
