New reports from Roanoke Police confirm money scam cases are on the rise

Roanoke police say there is a rise in money scam cases in the city.

They say in the past month they have investigated close to forty money scams. 

From April 1st to the 27th, Roanoke Police say thirty-eight cases were reported. 

That’s compared to nine cases reported the month before and thirteen reported that time last year which is a big jump when you compare the numbers.

These cases include, counterfeit bills, forgery like writing bad checks. and bank fraud. 

Police are investigating several leads but anyone with information is encouraged to call the Roanoke Police Police Department.
