LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The towering nine-story parking garage adjacent to U.S. 460 at Liberty University in Lynchburg opens Saturday, Oct. 3.
The announcement from Liberty University said the parking garage will house 2,100 new parking spaces, including 20 electric vehicle charging stations on the third floor.
Entrances to the garage are located on the first and third floor, the announcement said.
Faculty, staff, and commuter students can use the garage weekdays from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open parking is available weekdays from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. and on weekends until 4 a.m. Monday.
The additional parking will come in handy during special events, like basketball games. A covered walkway will connect the garage to a tunnel under U.S. 460 which empties into the Vines Center and the new Liberty Arena, expected to open later this fall.
