Neighbors are expressing concern about the road being dangerous after a vehicle crashed into a house Tuesday night.
Roanoke officers are investigating the crash that happened just after 9 p.m. on Bear Road near the Yellow Mountain Road intersection.
Some neighbors say the road it too windy, narrow and too dark at night. Just last year, there were three reported crashes that damaged property in the area.
“We have a speed limit, but people don’t usually pay attention to it. They drive too fast for this road,” said Mariia Borysenko.
Borysenko has lived off of Yellow Mountain Road for about a year and a half. She says the roads are so narrow that one time when she was with her stepdad, his truck mirror collided with another truck’s mirror.
“Just driving by. Nobody was passed the line. They just were driving past each other and broke each other’s mirrors.”
That’s why she wasn’t surprised to learn that a car crashed into a house on Bear Road Tuesday night.
Borysenko says she’d like to see county officials put up some signs, warning people.
“About this part of the road so people will slow down a little bit on that part because it’s really dangerous.”
She says she would also like some sidewalks, so she can get to her bus stop and walk her dog safely.
