UPDATE: Multiple road closures reported around southwest, central Virginia due to flooding, downed trees

(WFXR) — As rain pours down around Monday morning, a number of weather-related road closures and warnings have been reported in southwest and central Virginia localities — particularly Pittsylvania County — by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

VDOT is reporting the following weather-related road closures around southwest and central Virginia as of 12:35 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30:

Amherst County:

  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 648/Beck Creek Road from Galts Mill Road/Route 622 to Kentmoor Farm Road due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 613/Kentmoor Farm Road from Beck Creek Road/Route 648 to Brightwells Mill Road/Kentmoor Farm Road/Route 663 due to flooding.

Bedford County:

  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 708/Pisgah Road from East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike/US-460 East to East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike/US-460 West due to flooding.

Campbell County:

  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 726/Mount Athos Road from Stage Road/Sun Dance Drive/Route 609 to Walnut Lane/Route 1032 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 609/Stage Road in Campbell County from Columbus Road/Stage Road/Route 607/Route 609 in Appomattox County to Archer Mill Road/Route 787 in Campbell County due to flooding.

Charlotte County:

  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 701/Thorntons Mill Road from Rolling Hill Road/Route 615 to Tower Road/Route 691 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 648/Hannah Road from Scuffletown Road/Route 746 to Harrisburg Road/Route 619 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 616/Whites Chapel Road from Red House Road/Route 727 to Midway Road due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 668/Stockdale Road from Patrick Henry Highway/Phenix Main Street/VA-40 to Hillcroft Road/Route 667 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 619/Staunton Hill Road from Terrell Road/Route 693 to Clarkton Bridge Road/Route 620 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 618/Turnip Creek Road in Charlotte County from Patrick Henry Highway/Robin Road/Route 618 in Campbell County to Patrick Henry Highway/Wickliffe Road/VA-40 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 695/Rough Creek Road from Old Well Road/Route 617 to Red House Road/Route 727 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 638 in Charlotte County from Piney Ridge Road/Wheelers Spring Road/Route 628 in Appomattox County to Tower Road/Route 691 in Charlotte County due to flooding.

Giles County:

  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 636/Ripplemead Road from Pyrtle Road/Route 1506 to Ripplemead Road/dead end due to flooding.

Halifax County:

  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 685 from Birch Elmo Road/Route 662 to Deer Ridge Trail/Oak Level Road/Route 771/Route 683 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 617/Cove Road from Chester Road/Route 618 to Mortons Ferry Road/Route 623 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 778 from Mount Laurel Road/Route 746 to Black Walnut Road/Route 600 due to flooding.

Henry County:

  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on VA-87/Morehead Avenue at Farmbrook Road/Route 622 due to a tree down.

Pittsylvania County:

  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 703/Irish Road from Jones Mill Road/Route 834 to Marion Road/Route 605 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 834/Hopewell Road from Dry Fork Road/Route 718 to Irish Road/Route 703 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 834/Hollywood Road from Callands Road/VA-57 to Green Pond Road/Route 750 due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 887/County Road from Union Hall School Road/Route 612 to Strawberry Road/Route 750 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 788/Luster Road from Berryville Road/Route 787 to West Gretna Road/VA-40 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 728/Hillside Road from Kentuck Road/Route 729 to Ferguson Road/Route 732 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 671/Midway Road from Rockford School Road/Route 665 to Blue Ridge Drive/Route 634 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 637/Jacobs Road from Shula Drive/Route 642 to Roark Mill Road/Route 638 due to flooding.
  • All northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 694/David Giles Lane from Carter Lodge Road/Route 825 to Woodlawn Hts/dead end due to flooding.
  • All eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 632/Waller Road from Renan Road/Telegraph Road/Wards Road/Route 685/Route 640 to Dews Road/Route 640 due to flooding.

Meanwhile, the Danville Fire Department says the River City is in the wind impact area reported by the National Weather Service.

In addition, according to fire officials, there have been approximately 1.74 inches of rain at the Danville Fire Department on Lynn Street as of 7 a.m. on Monday.
