More than $30k raised for family of girl killed while running after family dog

A fundraiser for the family of 12-year-old Jennarae Nicole Goodbar has exceeded initial expectations.

Virginia State Police said the girl was chasing the family dog when she stepped into the road and was hit by a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu in the area of West Midland Trail.

A GoFundMe page was created October 27 with a goal of raising $15,000. Two days later, more than 796 people donated $30,256 with more than 2.8k people sharing the link on social media as of 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The page states the donations will help cover the cost of the unexpected expenses.
