More than 2,700 Appalachian Power customers reporting outages in southwest, central Virginia

(WFXR) — More than 2,700 Appalachian Power customers across southwest and central Virginia — especially in Franklin County and neighboring counties — are dealing with outages Friday morning following the heavy rain across the region overnight.

According to Appalachian Power, at least 2,765 customers from the following localities are reporting outages as of 6:44 a.m. on Friday, July 2:

  • Franklin County: 578 customers due to 11 outage cases
  • Montgomery County: 490 customers due to seven outage cases
  • Bedford County: 388 customers due to two outage cases
  • Henry County: 279 customers due to eight outage cases
  • Lynchburg: 240 customers due to six outage cases
  • Pulaski County: 154 customers due to seven outage cases
  • Amherst County: 148 customers due to four outage cases
  • Roanoke County: 144 customers due to eight outage cases
  • Bland County: 70 customers due to two outage cases
  • Roanoke City: 62 customers due to six outage cases
  • Floyd County: 52 customers due to four outage cases
  • Botetourt County: 47 customers due to four outage cases
  • Giles County: 32 customers due to two outage cases
  • Grayson County: 30 customers due to six outage cases
  • Wythe County: 16 customers due to two outage cases
  • Carroll County: 12 customers due to three outage cases
  • Patrick County: 10 customers due to four outage cases
  • Nelson County: Seven customers due to one outage case
  • Craig County: Six customers due to two outage cases
  • Campbell County: Less than five customers due to one outage case

The start times for these outages range from Thursday night through early Friday morning. Appalachian Power has not provided a reason for the vast majority of these outages.
