UPDATE: More than 13,000 Appalachian Power customers without power after Tuesday’s severe storms

UPDATE 7:22 a.m.: Appalachian Power has restored power for more than 1,500 customers in southwest and central Virginia over the last hour and a half, but more than 13,000 customers are still impacted by outages Wednesday morning.

As of 7:14 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, Appalachian Power says at least 13,527 customers are dealing with outages in the following localities:

  • Amherst County: 4,598 customers due to 57 outage cases
  • Bedford County: 2,694 customers due to 67 outage cases
  • Lynchburg: 1,713 customers due to 65 outage cases
  • Roanoke County: 1,337 customers due to 57 outage cases
  • Botetourt County: 1,151 customers due to 28 outage cases
  • Montgomery County: 835 customers due to 52 outage cases
  • Roanoke City: 581 customers due to 29 outage cases
  • Nelson County: 360 customers due to 18 outage cases
  • Pulaski County: 114 customers due to seven outage cases
  • Giles County: 93 customers due to 19 outage cases
  • Campbell County: 32 customers due to 12 outage cases
  • Craig County: 11 customer due to four outage cases
  • Franklin County: Eight customers due to two outage cases
  • Radford: Less than five customers due to one outage case

(WFXR) — Over 15,000 Appalachian Power customers — more than 10,000 of whom are from central Virginia — are dealing with power outages Wednesday morning following Tuesday’s severe weather.

As of 5:44 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, Appalachian Power says at least 15,259 customers are dealing with outages in the following localities:

  • Amherst County: 4,601 customers due to 58 outage cases
  • Lynchburg: 2,822 customers due to 64 outage cases
  • Bedford County: 2,702 customers due to 69 outage cases
  • Montgomery County: 1,415 customers due to 47 outage cases
  • Roanoke County: 1,343 customers due to 57 outage cases
  • Botetourt County: 1,146 customers due to 27 outage cases
  • Roanoke City: 619 customers due to 32 outage cases
  • Nelson County: 360 customers due to 18 outage cases
  • Pulaski County: 111 customers due to six outage cases
  • Giles County: 93 customers due to 19 outage cases
  • Campbell County: 28 customers due to 12 outage cases
  • Craig County: 11 customer due to four outage cases
  • Franklin County: Eight customers due to two outage cases
  • Radford: Less than five customers due to one outage case
