(WFXR) — After a weeks-long search and a pursuit through Virginia and North Carolina, authorities say a fugitive wanted in Franklin, Henry, and Patrick counties was finally arrested earlier this month.

According to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith, members of his office — along with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and the U.S. Marshal Service — had been trying for weeks to track down 43-year-old Eric Lee Baliles of Spencer before his arrest on Nov. 17.

Authorities say Baliles is being held in the Rockingham County Jail in North Carolina after Henry County deputies initiated a vehicle chase, which ended up crossing state lines.

“Baliles was wanted from our jurisdiction for felony breaking and entering and grand larceny, and for a probation violation,” Smith said.

According to officials, Baliles is named in felony warrants for a recent break-in at a property on Virginia North Carolina Road in the Moorfield Store area of Patrick County.

The sheriff’s office says Baliles will be extradited back to Virginia to stand trial in all three counties.
