A judge has sentenced Jordan Ornes to 15 1/2 years in prison for stabbing a woman and her father at Blue Cow Ice Cream Co.
Roanoke City Police were called to the shop in July 2018, where they found Ornes holding a knife.
Ornes claimed he was at the store to speak with Rachel Shelton.
Shelton was at the ice cream shop with her father. Ornes stabbed the father and daughter several times.
Ornes is charged with two counts of malicious wounding and violation of a protective order, as well as one count of threatening someone in writing.
As part of his sentence, he will comply with all treatment recommended by his probation officer and complete a mental health screening with the Department of Corrections.
Ornes is to have no contact with Shelton or her family. When his time is served, he will spend the rest of his life on probation.
