The Lynchburg Police Department will be partnering with One Community One Voice and other local agencies for a school initiative fundraiser on July 20.

The groups will be collecting bikes and school supplies for next school year’s Believing in Kids Excelling (B.I.K.E.) initiative.

Project B.I.K.E. is an incentive-based program that allows students to earn the chance to win a bicycle by improving their grades, attendance, or attitude.

Last year, more than 60 students received a bicycle after showing positive development in school.

The Lynchburg Police Department and local partners hope to provide even more bicycles next school year.

The fundraiser will be held at the Walmart at 3900 Wards Road on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Police Chief Ryan Zuidema will be at Walmart from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
