Woman arrested in connection with domestic-related shooting in Brookneal

BROOKNEAL, Va. (WFXR) – The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured in an overnight shooting in Brookneal.

Authorities say the Campbell County E-911 Call Center received a distress call at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 13 saying two people had been shot at a residence on Caroline Avenue in Brookneal.

When deputies and first responders arrived at the scene, they found two people who were injured in a shooting. The two victims were taken to a local hospital, but were later transferred to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville.

The sheriff’s office says 41-year-old Sherry Marie Wright of Brookneal, has been arrested in connection with the shooting. She is being charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Wright is currently being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

Other charges are pending, but investigators say that the shooting appears to be domestic-related.
