NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities say an 80-year-old woman died over the weekend after her car ran off the road and crashed in Nelson County.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly before 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13 along Route 56, about half a mile east of Eagle Mountain Road.

Police say a 2014 Toyota Camry was heading east on Route 56 when a tree fell onto the vehicle. The Camry then ran off the right side of the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.

The driver — identified by authorities as Emmagene M. Olah from Shipman — was wearing a seatbelt, but died at the scene of the crash.

As of this writing, officials say this fatal crash is still under investigation.
