VSP: NJ woman dies following Tuesday morning wreck in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A New Jersey driver is dead after crashing along Route 29 in Nelson County Tuesday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, word came in just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21 about a single-vehicle crash on Route 29 (South Thomas Nelson Highway), north of Route 617 (Rockfish River Road).

Police say a 2014 Dodge Journey was heading south when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a culvert, an embankment, and a tree.

The driver — identified by authorities as 28-year-old Hasina K. Camacho-Prather of Brigantine Boulevard, N.J. — was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the crash.

As of this writing, officials say this fatal crash investigation is still ongoing.
