BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities say a Moneta driver died at the hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Bedford County on Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, Virginia State Police tell WFXR News that a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling east on Route 24. Then, about a mile east of Spradlin Road, the SUV ran off the right side of Route 24 and collided with a tree.

According to police, the driver — 58-year-old Dean Jayhue Davis of Moneta — was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Davis was reportedly wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
