BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — More than two weeks after a fatal crash along Route 460 in Bedford County, Virginia State Police shared the identities of the people involved in the crash.

According to officials, state troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 460 — approximately a quarter of a mile east of Route 706 (Bells Mill Road) — just before 8 p.m. on July 26.

Police say a 2017 Toyota Highlander was traveling west on Route 460 when it ran off the left side of the road into the ditch. The vehicle then continued across the eastbound lanes and into the embankment before overturning several times and coming to a stop back in the eastbound lanes.

The driver — identified by authorities as 30-year-old Mary B. Corbett of Appomattox — was brought to the hospital with serious injuries. She reportedly was wearing a seatbelt.

However, Virginia State Police say the front seat passenger — 37-year-old Kenneth N. Gunter of Appomattox — was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

As of Friday, Aug. 13, officials say charges are pending in connection with this fatal crash, which is still under investigation.
