UPDATE: Crash on Route 501 in Campbell County has been cleared

UPDATE 4:25 p.m.: VDOT says that Route 501 north of Brookneal that was previously closed due to a crash, has been reopened.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: VDOT has not provided any new updates regarding the crash along Route 501, north of Brookneal.

The roadway continues to be closed in the area of Railview Road (Route 917).

Drivers should still continue to avoid the area.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, VA. (WFXR) — Commuters in Campbell County can expect to see delays Monday afternoon due to a vehicle crash shutting down U.S. Route 501.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), all northbound and southbound lanes are closed on U.S. Route 501 near Railview Road and Route 917, just under four miles north of Route 40.

There is no word on the extent of the delays at this time, but VDOT says motorists should use Route 917 as a detour.
