NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Two minors are facing multiple charges following a complaint about shots fired in Nelson County Thursday morning.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting was reported around 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 along Toms Lane in Roseland.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they say they found evidence that resulted in two minors being detained and charged with reckless handling of a firearm and receiving stolen goods.

In addition, one minor was charged with violation of a protective order while the other minor had an outstanding detention order from another jurisdiction and held on those charges, officials say.

According to the sheriff’s office, nobody was injured and no property was damaged during this incident. Deputies also managed to identify and recover a stolen vehicle.

While authorities tell WFXR News there is no known threat to the community in connection with this incident, the investigation is still ongoing.

“We would like to thank the Virginia State Police, Albemarle Police Department, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources Conservation Police, Waynesboro Police Department and the J.A.D.E. Drug Task Force for their assistance,” the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook late Thursday night.

This marks Nelson County’s third incident in two weeks that led to at least one minor’s arrest.
