BIG ISLAND, Va. (WFXR) – It’s truly a miraculous story.

According to the Big Island Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., a driver was traveling south on Route 501 near Perch Road outside of Big Island in Bedford County when a tree toppled and fell into the road and on top of that vehicle, including its occupant.

When rescue crews were dispatched to the crash shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, they found the tree blocking the entire roadway as well as the trapped vehicle which was still occupied.

That person escaped serious injury and was not needed to be taken to a hospital.
