UPDATE: Crash cleared on Route 221 near Forest; no injuries reported

UPDATE 5:02 a.m. (10/6/21): The Forest Fire Department confirmed that nobody was hurt after a two-vehicle crash that was cleared along Forest Road and Gumtree Road Tuesday night.


UPDATE 9:55 p.m.: The crash on Route 221 near Forest has been cleared.

Traffic is moving normally around this area.


UPDATE 8:10 p.m.: VSP has confirmed to WFXR News that the crash on Route 221 in Forest involves two vehicles with no injuries.

Troopers say the road should not be closed for long as tow trucks are enroute.

Still, drivers should seek another route to avoid delays.


UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: VDOT says all northbound lanes of Route 221 (Forest Road) are closed due to this crash.

VSP continues to say the detour around the crash will take drivers through a parking lot to get past it.


FOREST, Va. (WFXR)— A crash in Forest has the intersection of Forest Road and Gumtree Road shut down.

According to Virginia State Police, traffic is being detoured through a parking lot in the area.

No information about the crash was released and there’s no word on when the road will reopen.
