UPDATE 10:20 p.m.: Virginia State Police (VSP) has updated information surrounding the crash on Route 460 in Bedford County that left two people in critical condition.
According to officials, state troopers responded to the scene at approximately 5:21 p.m. on Monday, July 12 after a pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 460 near Blackwater Road, leaving the pickup pinned under the tractor-trailer with two people trapped inside the pickup.
The Bedford Fire Department says crews stabilized, lifted, and removed both occupants from the truck at the same time before they were flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
UPDATE 9:10 p.m.: The Forest Fire Department has updated the condition of some of those involved in a crash on Route 460 in Bedford County.
According to the department, the incident happened in front of Owens Market where a pickup truck was underneath a tractor-trailer with two people trapped in the vehicle.
The Forest Fire Department says both of those people were flown by helicopter to a local hospital and were said to be in critical condition.
The Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.
UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: Crews have cleared the tractor-trailer crash on Route 460 in Bedford County.
Traffic appears to be moving normally around this area, according to VDOT.
UPDATE 5:45 p.m.: VDOT has updated the Route 460 closure in Bedford County due to a tractor-trailer crash.
The department now says that all eastbound and westbound lanes are closed in the area of Blackwater Road (Route 668).
Drivers will need to find an alternate route around this crash.
