UPDATE 8 p.m.: Route 163 between Lynchburg and Madison Heights has been reopened after an earlier tractor-trailer crash.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – A tractor-trailer crash on a busy section of Route 163 (South Amherst Highway) has closed all lanes of traffic.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the crash is near the intersection with Route 210. The northbound and southbound lanes are shut down in this area.

VDOT’s Lynchburg District says the tractor-trailer crash left debris spilled across the roadway.

Northbound traffic is being routed onto Route 210 (Old Town Connector). Traffic can use Route 29 Business to Madison Heights to get past the crash.
