ALTAVISTA, Va. (WFXR) – Altavista Town Council is asking for citizens’ recommendations for a potential name for a coworking space in the former fire station on Seventh Street, slated for opening in the fall of 2021.
Coworking spaces are essentially shared workspaces offering office space for those looking to escape the isolation from a home office or coffee shop.
The space will offer office-like amenities including shared desks, dedicated desks, conference rooms and flexible space that can be used in a variety of ways.
Technology will be made available in this coworking space such as wireless and wired internet access and broadband, high-quality copier/printers, plotter and 3D printing capabilities.
The building will be a place of creativity and community that will provide opportunities for entrepreneurs for small business incubation, and innovative and collaborative endeavors such as youth technology camps and activities.
One of Town Council’s preferences is to potentially tie the name to the history of the building, but they say that is not a requirement.
