Three officers injured after Saturday morning crash involving LPD vehicles

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Three officers from the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) were hospitalized Saturday morning after the second crash involving LPD vehicles in less than 48 hours.

According to the department, at approximately 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, police officers and members of the Lynchburg Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of Biltmore and Fort Avenues after a crash involving two LPD vehicles.

Police say these officers were driving with their emergency lights and sirens activated to help on another call.

Three officers went to Lynchburg General Hospital with minor injuries after the crash, which officials say they are currently investigating.

This news comes after two Lynchburg police officers were involved in a crash on Thursday, April 8 that sent one of them to the hospital that evening.
