NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia’s largest independent craft beer company, Three Notch’d Brewing Company, announced the acquisition of the former Wild Wolf facility in Nelson County.

According to the Charlottesville-based brewery, this picturesque property in Nellysford sits on 13 acres at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It will not only provide a major outpost for Three Notch’d Brewing in an area known for beer tourism, but it will also deepen the brand’s connection to its home state of Virginia.

The team will invest heavily in renovating the property, such as establishing a connection to public water treatment facilities, which will give the brewery over 500k bbls of clean water straight from the mountain each year.

“And we have big plans for that increased resource,” said George Kastendike, CEO of Three Notch’d.

In addition to creating beers, the team plans to use this facility to expand the brand’s new line of NA beverages, officially launch the Three Notch’d Distilling Company, and give room for ready-to-drink cocktail experimentation.

“Breaking the constraints of capacity is the first step in realizing our vision to expand Three Notch’d beyond beer, diversifying our portfolio across beverage categories,” Kastendike added.

“This acquisition would not have been possible without the team at Blue Ridge Beverage, working tirelessly to build our brand in our backyard,” said Scott Roth, COO and president of Three Notch’d Brewing.

Blue Ridge Beverage Company has reportedly served as the distributor for Three Notch’d throughout southwest and central Virginia since 2018. It has also been a major factor in driving double-digit growth for the brand since the beginning of the partnership. More recently, Reyes Holdings has expanded the brand’s reach in the rest of the Commonwealth.

Three Notch’d says it operates five other venues throughout Virginia, including production HQ and brewpub in Charlottesville, brewpubs in Virginia Beach and Roanoke, and collab houses in Harrisonburg and Richmond.

When asked about the opening date for this location, Kastendike replied, “We are hopeful for Fall 2022 and look to hire a team locally in the coming months to help us bring this new location to life.”
