BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — With the Bedford County Animal Shelter currently at capacity, a nonprofit rescue organization issued “an SOS Plea” on social media, saying that adoption fees will be temporarily waived for those who offer forever homes for any of the shelter’s numerous cats.

According to Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Inc., the animal shelter’s cages are completely full in the feline area, but new cats and kittens are still coming in each day.

The rescue organization says they have been covering the cost of boarding cats at Riverside Veterinary Hospital for the last month and — despite the generous discount they receive — the bill is quickly growing.

“We are desperate! Please come adopt a cat or even two,” Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Inc. wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, Nov. 16. “…This is an SOS Plea!!!!”

According to the nonprofit, the adoption fees for cats will be waived until Saturday, Nov. 20 for those with an approved application.
