LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Starting Tuesday, crews in Lynchburg will implement temporary lane closures along portions of the Lynchburg Expressway and Fort Avenue.
Between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18 through Friday, May 21, officials say a portion of the Lynchburg Expressway will be reduced to a single lane in order to accommodate street light repairs.
This temporary closure will reportedly start southbound on Carter Glass Bridge at the Lynchburg city limits to Exit Ramp 8A, then on the northbound side of the expressway, from Exit Ramp 8B to Carter Glass Bridge at the Lynchburg City limits.
Meanwhile, from Tuesday, May 18 through Sunday, June 13, a portion of Fort Avenue from Toledo Avenue to Lindsay Street will be closed every day — including weekends — from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. because of parking lot improvements in the area, according to the City of Lynchburg.
Motorists are asked to expect minor delays, use caution while traveling through work zones, be alert to changes in traffic patterns, and obey temporary signage during these closure periods.
However, emergency vehicles will reportedly have access at all times.
