PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A teenage girl from Bedford County lost her life Wednesday night after she was thrown from a car that crashed in Prince Edward County.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash on Route 460 — almost a quarter-mile west of Sulphur Spring Road — shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20.

Authorities say a 2011 Nissan Altima was heading west on Route 460 when it ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the right side of the road, and hit an embankment.

The driver — identified by officials as 16-year-old Bella G. Elder of Forest — was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She then died at the scene of the crash.

As of Monday, April 25, police say this deadly crash is still under investigation.
